Summary

ConvertMe.org ("we", "our", "the site") is a free online unit conversion tool. The values you type into the converter itself are processed in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers. The site does, however, use Google Analytics for traffic measurement and Google AdSense to display advertising; both of those services use cookies and collect a limited set of technical and behavioural data described below. This page explains what is collected, why, and what choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

You can use ConvertMe.org without creating an account or providing any personal information. If you contact us by email, we receive whatever you choose to send — typically your email address, name (if included) and the contents of the message.

1.2 Information collected automatically

Standard server logs and the analytics and advertising scripts described below collect:

  • IP address (truncated where supported by the analytics provider)
  • User-agent string (browser, browser version, operating system)
  • Approximate location at the country / region level, derived from IP
  • Referring URL
  • Pages viewed, time on page and basic interaction events
  • Device type and screen size

1.3 Conversion inputs

The numeric values you enter into the converter, the units you choose and the results displayed are calculated by JavaScript running locally in your browser. They are not sent to ConvertMe.org's servers and are not stored by us.

2. How We Use Information

The information described above is used to:

  • Operate, maintain and secure the website.
  • Understand which pages and conversion categories are useful so we can improve them.
  • Detect and respond to abuse, fraud and security incidents.
  • Display advertising and measure its effectiveness.
  • Reply to messages you send us.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

ConvertMe.org uses a small number of cookies and similar storage mechanisms, set either directly by the site or by third-party services we embed. The categories and purposes are described in detail in our Cookie Policy. In summary:

  • Strictly necessary — local storage that remembers your most recent or favourite conversions in your own browser.
  • Analytics — set by Google Analytics to measure traffic.
  • Advertising — set by Google AdSense and its advertising partners to deliver, frequency-cap and measure ads.

Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Doing so will not break the converter itself but may reduce the relevance of any ads shown.

4. Google AdSense and Advertising Partners

This site is supported by advertising delivered through Google AdSense.

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
  • You may also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info or, in the EU/EEA/UK, youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Google's advertising practices are described in the Google Advertising Privacy & Terms page.

Third-party vendors and ad networks (including Google) may use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to collect information about your activity on this and other websites in order to provide advertising based on your browsing activities and interests.

5. Google Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and processes the data described in section 1.2. We have the data-retention period set to the default short window offered by Google Analytics. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's own privacy policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Other Third Parties

The site is delivered by standard web hosting and content delivery infrastructure. Hosting and DNS providers see incoming requests as part of normal network operation. We do not knowingly transfer personal data to any third party other than the analytics and advertising providers described above and only to the extent strictly required to operate the service.

7. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA / UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the legal bases on which we rely to process the limited data described above are:

  • Consent — for analytics and advertising cookies, where consent is required by local law.
  • Legitimate interests — for keeping the site secure, preventing abuse and understanding aggregate usage where local law permits.
  • Contract — for replying to messages you send us.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Residents of California and other US states with comparable privacy legislation also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights, the right to know what categories of personal information have been collected, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].

9. Data Retention

Server logs are retained for a short period for security and abuse-prevention purposes and then deleted or aggregated. Analytics and advertising data are retained for the periods set by Google for those products. Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the matter raised and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping.

10. Children's Privacy

ConvertMe.org is a general-audience site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the user's jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. International Transfers

Because Google Analytics and Google AdSense are global services, the data described above may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required by law, those transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards put in place by Google.

12. Do Not Track

Most browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry standard for how sites should respond to it. ConvertMe.org currently treats DNT as informational and does not change behaviour based on it; the controls described in sections 4–6 above are the practical way to limit data collection.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last reviewed" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

14. Contact

Privacy questions and requests can be sent to [email protected]. Our jurisdiction for legal correspondence is [Jurisdiction].
