Celsius to Kelvin Converter (°C to K)
Type a value in degrees Celsius to see it in kelvins instantly.
25 °C = 298.15 K
Formula: K = °C + 273.15
How to convert degrees Celsius to kelvins
Add 273.15.
K = °C + 273.15
Example: 25 °C + 273.15 = 298.15 K
Because a kelvin and a Celsius degree are the same size, a temperature difference of 10 °C is also a difference of 10 K. Only absolute temperatures need the 273.15 offset.

About the units
Degree Celsius (°C)
The Celsius scale puts the freezing point of water at 0 °C and the boiling point at 100 °C at standard pressure. One Celsius degree is the same size as one kelvin.
Kelvin (K)
The kelvin is the SI base unit of thermodynamic temperature. It starts at absolute zero (0 K = −273.15 °C) and uses the same degree size as Celsius. It is written without a degree sign.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert degrees Celsius to kelvins?
Use the formula K = °C + 273.15. Add 273.15. For example, 25 °C + 273.15 = 298.15 K.
Why is there no degree sign on kelvin?
Since 1967 the kelvin has been an absolute SI unit rather than a "degree" on a scale, so it is written as 300 K, not 300 °K.
Can a kelvin temperature be negative?
No. 0 K is absolute zero, the lowest possible temperature, so values in kelvin are never negative.
